The 2024 NFL Top 100 List continues to be unveiled, and Lane Johnson came in at No. 41 — for the second year in a row. The Eagles’ veteran right tackle has developed into one of the best in the entire league, and he deserves all the acknowledgement for his role in what can be a dynamic offense.

Johnson is now the most experienced guy in the offensive line room, now that Jason Kelce retired, but the group is in great hands. Year-after-year we’re reminded just how critical it is to have the RT on the field.
He is the third Eagles player to make the list, including:
No. 41 - Lane Johnson, RT
No. 86 - Saquon Barkley, RB [down 55 spots from No. 31 in 2023]
No. 90 - DeVonta Smith, WR [up 10 spots from No. 100 in 2023]
Former Eagles edge defender Haason Reddick also made the list at No. 87, but his potential in 2024 remains to be seen as he has yet to Collapse

1 DAY AGO - The Eagles were back on the field Thursday for Day 2 of training camp, and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio spoke to reporters before the start of practice. He talked about how they see Bryce Huff, the cornerback and linebacker position battles, as well as his take on analytics.
Here’s what the DC had to say:
On DT conditioning
A whole lot has been made the past two years about Jordan Davis’ conditioning, and while Fangio said he doesn’t have a reference point since he wasn’t in Philly last year, he thought Davis and Jalen Carter both looked good on Day 1.
“I thought Jordan showed some good movement ability. Was able to bend his body that I don’t think I’ve seen him do before. So, it’s encouraging right now.”
On DE Bryce Huff
Fangio was asked about Huff, who was mostly a pass-rush specialist with the Jets, and explained that they all thought he could be a guy that can play on base downs. The DC said Huff has taken on the challenge very well.

Observations from the NovaCare Complex. Today marked the second Philadelphia Eagles training camp practice ahead of the 2024 season. The session lasted for a little under 90 minutes. Here’s what I observed at the NovaCare Complex.
EAGLES PRACTICE NOTES
JALEN HURTS UPDATE: A lot more of the same we saw from Hurts on Day 1, which is important. Gotta stack those good days. Hurts has been very efficient; the ball has rarely hit the ground. He’s been very decisive as both a passer and a runner. Hurts’ average time to throw sped up from 2021 to 2022 but then regressed back to pre-2022 levels in 2023, so, it’s been good to see him making quicker decisions and not holding onto the ball for forever. Now presumably healthier than he was last year, Hurts looks a lot faster than the last time we saw him play. That’s been apparent when he’s been running away from pressure and also when he’s taken off upfield. Hurts’ most noteworthy completion came in Collapse

As the Giants publicized their handling of Saquon Barkley’s contract on ‘Hard Knocks,’ the RB is just focused on getting to work in Philly with his new teammates. It wasn’t a secret that things between Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants on the business side of things had been contentious, with the team using the franchise tag and refusing to pay the RB what he felt he deserved. Nearly two years of offseason contract issues all led to Barkley signing with the Eagles in 2024, and switching his allegiances. For most, Barkley and the Giants officially “broke up” when he decided to sign with Philly, but the RB recently spoke about how that door was closed much earlier.
The harsh reality for Giants fans that Barkley was joining the Eagles hit hard and fast, and there was a lot of hate thrown his way in the days and weeks that followed. Everything seemed to simmer down as the offseason drudged on, but the wounds were re-opened Collapse

Just ahead of the Eagles taking the field for their first training camp practice of 2024, head coach Nick Sirianni and GM Howie Roseman spoke to reporters about the state of the roster and certain position groups, as well as the new coordinators.
Here’s what they had to say:
On Sirianni’s relationship with Hurts
During the offseason, there was a lot of speculation regarding the state of Nick Sirianni’s relationship with Jalen Hurts, notably so after the QB gave a less than energetic response when asked about Sirianni’s role this season. Despite the noise, the head coach said that he and the quarterback are “good.”

Eagles training camp is here. It means a new beginning. There are great expectations for this year’s team. Prognosticators have them ranked top five here, and top 10 there, which serves as great fodder for sportstalk radio hosts and podcast spinning heads, though does little to shed what happened late last season. That stink tends to linger and can only be erased on the field during live play, not in controlled settings like training camp.
This is a team with something to collectively prove in 2024, because the last time anyone saw the Eagles they were a downtrodden team that quit.
The official epitaph of their epic collapse came with 10:44 left to play in their 32-9 playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round, forcing ESPN color analyst and NFL Hall of Famer Troy Aikman to brazenly—and accurately—announce to the nation that the 2023 Eagles were a … “a defeated team and they were when they came in. 1 DAY AGO - The Eagles’ QB spoke to reporters after the team’s first training camp practice of 2024, and spoke a lot about perception and not being worried about it. The Eagles were back on the practice field Wednesday for their first taste of training camp, and quarterback Jalen Hurts spoke to reporters afterward about his message to the team, why it was important to get so much work in with his skill players this offseason, and how his role changes at the line without Jason Kelce at center.
Hurts cut off the first question — which was about the report this offseason regarding his relationship with Nick Sirianni — and gave an opening comment, instead.
“Let me say this first. You go through an offseason, you put a lot of work in — I think all the things we’ve been through last year, all the opportunity we had last year, I know everybody’s hungry. Eagles practice observations: Jalen Hurts a plus-one factor in run game; Cam Jurgens in space; conditioning at the forefront - InquirerWhen Hurts takes off on a scramble and motors into the secondary it can draw “oohs” and “ahhs” from fans at camp, but his red jersey affords him the comfort of running without fear. But there was a designed run that warranted excitement because it showcased a pulling Cam Jurgens. The Eagles have seen that athleticism from the center since his rookie camp when then-starter Jason Kelce was sidelined following elbow surgery in 2022. But it must be nice to know that the “get Kelce in space with a head of steam” plays won’t have go following his retirement. Ahead of the Eagles’ second training camp practice, the team announced that they had signed WR Griffin Hebert and waived OT Gottlieb Ayedze from the Non-Football Injury list.
Hebert is a tight end/wide receiver hybrid, and first signed with the Eagles back in December 2023 when he joined the practice squad. He signed a futures contract with the team in January, but was released at the end of April following the draft. The WR was invited back to Philly for a tryout during minicamp, but left without a new offer.
He played five years for Louisiana Tech, and was used a wide receiver his first four seasons, before being named a tight end his last year. Hebert went undrafted in 2023 and then signed with the Seahawks.

After a few questions about his part of the Giants’ storyline on ‘Hard Knocks’, Barkley talked about how new everything was for him as he started his first training camp out of New York. The RB said he felt like a rookie, asking other guys where things were and how things were structured, noting everything is different in Philly, even where the fans stand during practice.

In fact, it’s something not even remotely related to that arbitrary and reductive activity. Instead, we’re now going to track Hurts’ progress adjusting to a new offense with a thumbs up, thumbs down, or thumbs sideways tracker.

The team placed OT Gottlieb Ayedze, WR Shaq Davis, and DB Cooper DeJean on the Non-Football Injury list — DeJean is expected to miss a few weeks, something head coach Nick Sirianni admitted was a setback, but the team has confidence the rookie will make use of mental reps in the meantime and be ready to go when he can. Safety Sydney Brown is also starting camp on the Physically Unable to Perform list as he continues to recover from last season’s torn ACL.

Water is wet and hope springs eternal for fans of the Dallas Cowboys. Once again we’re approaching a season where big money is banking on the Cowboys having a big year. The problem is that there’s really not a lot of reason to have faith. Dallas were hamstrung in free agency by the salary cap, which caused them to make no appreciable upgrades to their roster — while poor cap management meant the team also lost Dorance Armstrong, Tyler Biadasz, Tony Pollard, and Tyron Smith (among others). There is no planet in which the Cowboys are a better team today than they were a year ago, yet money has them on-par with the Eagles in the division. No team is poised for a bigger Collapse
